Socket preservation

  • Patient: Female, 50 years old,
  • Surgical procedure: was advised a socket bone graft with delayed implant placement as the tooth was very wide and the periapical infection too differed immediate implant placement.
X-Rays of the initial condition.
Non restorable molar.
The tooth was gently extracted, the socket curetted thoroughly with a buck file.
The socket was filled with Microchips.
The wound was closed with 3-0 cytoplast sutures and a resorbable collagen.
Follow-up 5 months - clinical view.
The grafted site has appeared to be well vascularised.
Follow-up 5 months - clinical view.
It has been harvested a bone sample for histological examination.
A 5/11.5 dm implant was inserted at 50 ncm.
Immediate post operation X-Rays showing the implant in grafted bone.
Histological analysis.
Final prosthesis.
Recall radiograph at 18 months showing complete maturation of the grafted socket.
