Giuseppe Perale was born in Venice (Italy) in 1978 and his study carrier was at the Politecnico di Milano where in 2002 he obtained his Master degree in Biomedical Engineering, with curriculum courses from the Medicine Faculty of University of Milan, in 2005 a II-level Master on Innovation and Start-up Management from the MIP Business School and in 2006 the Ph.D. degree in Industrial Bioengineering. His further academic curriculum comprises also assignments at the Imperial College London, the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, the I.R.F. “Mario Negri” in Milano, the University of Eastern Piedmont, the Politecnico di Milano and the SUPSI Swiss Tehcnical University. Since 2019 he is Professor of Regenerative Medicine at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Southern Switzerland, USI, in Lugano and he is also permanent visiting Professor at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Experimental and Clinical Traumatology in Vienna.
Founder of IBI in 2008, he served as Executive VicePresident for Scientific and Clinical Affairs and Technical Director. Since spring 2025 he is the company CEO.
Translational scientist in his soul and firm believer of the so-called “nature inspired” philosophy, his scientific and research interests are focused on regenerative medicine, tissue engineering and physical chemistry applied to biomaterials for medical applications.
He’s author in over 160 international publications, 4 academic books and 8 international patent families.
He is also the Austrian Honorary Consul for Canton Tessin. For the wide spectrum of his professional and scientific activities and achievements, among other honors, he has also been awarded the Austrian Silver Merit Star, the Belgian Merit Medal, the Belgian Kingdom Knight Cross and he is candidate for the Italian Merit Star.

Lorenzo Leoni was born in Lugano (Switzerland) in 1965, he obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Lausanne and later became Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University California San Diego, in the departments of Immunology and Oncology.
He is a serial biotech entrepreneur, and has founded successful biotech companies in the United States (Salmedix) and in Switzerland (Telormedix). He has been COO of a now public Swiss biotech company and CEO of Telormedix until the end of 2009.
He is currently General Manager of the AGIRE Foundation, the Innovation Agency of the Ticino Canton and Managing Partner of AGIRE INVEST SA.

Claudio Girardi was born in Buenos Aires in 1958. Since 2001 he has been the CEO of Renato Corti S.p.A., a leather goods company with revenues of €250M and approximately 500 employees.

Gianni Pertici was born in Pontedera (Pisa, Italy) in 1976, got his Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering in 2002 at the University of Pisa and from 2005 to 2008 performed his PhD in Biomaterials at the Dept. of Chemistry of University of Pisa and at the Dental Dept. at King’s College of London.
His studies were focused on processing engineering and material properties especially for the biomedical field, but in recent years he acquired good knowledge also in the biological field, particularly in cell culture methods. In 2008 he moved to Switzerland where he became R&D director of Swiss Stem Cell Bank, in the same year he founded IBI. He is author in more than 30 publications, 2 books and single inventor of 2 patents.
